Third call Projects
The Green ERA-Hub has selected five projects for funding under its third Joint International Funding Call, launched in collaboration with the Wheat Initiative.
The call focused on“Sustainable Production and Utilisation of Biomass” and aimed to contribute to the transformation of today’s largely fossil resource-based economy into a sustainable bio-based economy based on natural and renewable material cycles.
The call generated strong interest among the research and innovation community. A total of 45 pre-proposals were submitted. Following the eligibility screening, 39 proposals were evaluated by an international panel of independent experts and 15 consortia were invited to submit a full proposal.
The selected projects address sustainable biomass production, climate-resilient crop breeding and innovative biotechnological approaches for the improved utilisation of renewable biomass.
Two topics
Topic A: Plant breeding for improved resilience and health of crops, the environment and soil
Projects under this topic focus on innovative genetic and breeding approaches that contribute to crop resilience, reduced agricultural inputs, improved water-use efficiency, agrobiodiversity and healthy soils.
Topic B: Biotechnological applications to improve the utilisation of biomass
Projects under this topic develop innovative and sustainable biotechnological approaches for the improved use of renewable biomass, residues, side streams, industrial waste and intermediate products.
