New Guidelines for International Collaboration

How can Europe strengthen collaboration with countries beyond the EU in agri-food and biotechnology? 

This question was at the heart of the Green Era Hub’s work on widening and outreach. One of the Hub’s missions is to develop practical guidance for future joint activities with international partners, both within and beyond Europe. 

Through a series of meetings and brainstorming sessions, policymakers, research and innovation actors, and other stakeholders explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration at both institutional and project level. Particular attention was given to building stronger links with regions across Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Mediterranean and Africa. 

The discussions resulted in a set of recommendations on how future collaborations with third countries can be developed and supported more effectively. 

The full recommendations are available in the Final Guidelines for the Outreach, while the main messages for policymakers are summarised in the Key Recommendations for the European Commission.

These guidelines provide a basis for strengthening international cooperation and creating new opportunities for joint research, innovation and knowledge exchange in the agri-food and biotechnology sectors.
